Kawhi Leonard will miss the San Antonio Spurs’ season opener, coach Gregg Popovich told reporters Friday.
Popovich, before the Spurs final preseason game against the Houston Rockets, said that Leonard won’t be available for Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Timbersolves at the AT&T Center.
Leonard has missed training camp with a left thigh injury.
It’s still not clear when he will return to the team.

“I don’t gauge it,” Popovich told reporters. “He’s still rehabbing and when he’s ready, he’ll be ready. I try not to qualify it.”
Leonard, who has improved every season he has been in the NBA, is widely regarded as one of the best defensive players in the league. He has also improved his scoring and last season averaged 25.5 points and 5.8 rebounds.
