Police, IDP killed at crossfire as troops repel Boko Haram attack in Borno

ABUJA-A police personnel and an Internally Displaced Person,,IDP, were killed Friday evening,on crossfire between military troops of Operation Lafiya Dole,and Boko Haram terrorists, in Borno State.

The police personnel was killed in action while the female Internally Displaced Person was hit by a stray bullet.

A statement late Saturday, by the Director, Army Public Rations, 7 Division, Lt. Col. KM Samuel,said the duo died when the troops were repelling attacks by the terrorists.

It happened when the the Nigerian Army Mobile Strike Teams, MSTs, of Operation Lafiya Dole, at about 6:00pm on the fateful day, laid ambush for Boko Haram Terrorists,crossing Bocobs village along Banki Junction – Bama road in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

“The troops sprung the attack on the unsuspecting terrorists and neutralised one of them while several others escaped with gun shots wounds,”the statement claimed.

The ambush party, the statement said, recovered several items from the ambush site including three bicycles, five jerricans and 2 two bags of maize.

“On same day at about 7pm, troops of 202 Battalion of 21 Brigade successfully repelled Boko Haram attack on an outpost within Bama general area.

” Unfortunately, a police personnel was killed in action while a female Internally Displaced Person (IDP) was hit by a stray bullet.

“The Commander of 21 Brigade visited the location of the attack on Saturday, 30 September 2017.

” He later proceeded to attend the burial of the deceased IDP where he commiserated with the IDP community on her demise, “the statement disclosed.
