President Muhammadu Buhari nominated Aishah Ahmad for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor position on Thursday.
Presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina announced this in a press statement released on Thursday.
In order for Mrs. Ahmad to be appointed CBN Deputy Governor, she must first be confirmed by the Senate. If appointed, Mrs. Ahmad will replace the former Deputy Governor who retired earlier this year.
Mr. Buhari urged Senate President Bukola Saraki to confirm his nominee.
The president similarly wrote to the Senate seeking the confirmation of the appointment of members of the CBN’s Monetary Policy Committee.
The nominees for the committee are Adeola Festus Adenikinju, Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi, Robert Chikwendu Asogwa, and Asheikh A. Maidugu.
